Aircraft Transparency Care & Restoration
Routine window cleaning is already built into every Exterior and Interior Detail. This service is the specialist tier above it: restoration of transparencies whose clarity has degraded — fine scratches, haze, swirl that catches low sun exactly when a pilot needs to see through it.
Transparencies are the easiest thing on an aircraft to ruin with good intentions. Most GA windscreens, cabin windows and canopies are cast acrylic: ammonia cleaners craze it, solvents attack it, dirty cloths and circular wiping fill it with the very scratches we're asked to remove. Restoration uses acrylic-specific polishing, graded and patient, to bring back genuine optical clarity.
What transparency restoration covers
Cockpit glazing, cabin windows and full acrylic canopies. The work: assessment of the material and damage depth; flood-rinsing and proper cleaning; acrylic-specific polishing to reduce fine scratches and haze; and a finishing grade that restores slickness and optical clarity. Jet cockpit glass — laminated, often heated and coated — is treated as its own discipline, strictly to appropriate products and methods.
Honesty about limits is part of the service: deep scratches, crazing and damage that reaches beyond safe polishing depth are assessment-and-referral matters, not polishing ones. Some marks are an engineering or replacement decision, and we'll tell you plainly which.

Is routine window cleaning a separate booking?
No — routine glazing care is included in every Exterior and Interior Detail. Book Transparency Care when clarity has degraded: scratches, haze or swirl that cleaning alone won't fix.
Can every scratch be polished out?
No — acrylic can only spare so much material. Fine scratches and haze usually respond well; deep gouges and crazing are improved at best, or referred honestly as replacement matters.
Why do transparencies haze in the first place?
Mostly accumulated micro-scratching: dry wiping, dirty cloths, paper towels and the wrong chemistry. Paired with correct routine care afterwards, a restored transparency stays clear far longer.
